Sandie Barrie Blackley

Speech-Language Pathologist Sandie Barrie Blackley is the owner and founder of the Language & Learning Clinic, PLLC, a private practice that specializes in communication disorders, including disorders of reading and written language. Ms. Barrie Blackley has special interest and expertise in the evaluation and treatment of disorders of reading and written language. She has training and experience with The Association Method, The Orton-Gillingham Method, The Lindamood-Bell Learning Systems Programs, The Phono-Graphix Method, and The Language! Curriculum. She specializes in home-based, family-centered approaches to treatment.

Certificate of Clinical Competence from The American Speech, Language and Hearing Association (ASHA)

Past Member of the National Council of Language!™ Trainers

EXPERIENCE:

Has practiced for more than 30 years in a variety of settings, including Duke University Medical Center, The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Craniofacial Disorders Program and The Frank Porter Graham Center

Has taught speech-language pathology graduate students and served on a multidisciplinary team at the Division for Development and Learning at UNC-CH

Established the speech-language pathology service at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin, NC, and provided services through this community hospital for 20 years

Established the Language & Learning Clinic, PLLC in 1999

Served as Project Manager for a U.S. Department of Education personnel preparation grant at The University of NC -Greensboro (UNC-G) in which speech-language pathology graduate students were trained to serve language-literacy impaired juvenile delinquents.

Teaches courses at UNCG in The School of Health & Human Performance, Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders
