Services

THE MISSION of The Language & Learning Clinic, PLLC is to help our clients improve their communication skills (speech, language, reading and writing) using the most evidence-based, cost-effective methods available .

FOR CHILDREN: evaluation, consultation, therapy Services include evaluation and treatment for speech articulation disorders, language disorders (including reading and written language disorders), stuttering, voice disorders, and social/pragmatic communication disorders (including autism spectrum disorders).

All treatment, including therapy to improve reading, spelling and writing skills, is based on methods with strong research support. When appropriate, language-literacy treatment is based on the Orton-Gillingham approach, with instructional strategies that are individualized, explicit, intensive, systematic, and multisensory. In order to accomplish the necessary daily practice we generally meet with the child and parent once a week, training the parent how to work with their child at home to carry out short but highly structured practice periods four days a week. The duration of treatment varies, depending on the severity of the problem. The shortest treatment period is generally six weeks.

Coaching is available for students of all ages who want to improve specific language skills, such a vocabulary, writing, or test-taking skills. Options include a home-based practice program with weekly personal coaching via e-mail.

FOR ADULTS: evaluation, consultation, therapy Services include evaluation and treatment for speech articulation disorders, language disorders (including reading and written language disorders), stuttering, voice disorders, as well as dialect modification (to reduce a foreign or regional accent and increase the use of Standard American Dialect), and improved public speaking techniques.
